WHO DO WE TRUST?
From the May 2008 issue
By Derry Brownfield
The way our political picture looks now, our country will soon be run by one of three people; John McCain, Barack Obama or Chelsea’s momma. All three are loving, caring individuals who are willing to put our nation’s sovereignty above their own personal gain; three true statesmen, who have never told a lie. All three have witnessed the abominations that have taken place in the US during the past few decades and once in office either of them will stop abortions on demand, take our monetary policy back from the Federal Reserve and the International Bankers, break up the multinational monopolistic corporations using the antitrust laws already on the books and cancel our affiliation with the United Nations. They will open the oil fields in Alaska and eliminate the Department of Education. “IN THESE PEOPLE WE PUT OUR TRUST.”
I have a picture of President George W. Bush delivering his 2008 State of the Union Address. His podium is beneath the United States flag and just above the flag, carved in stone are the words, “IN GOD WE TRUST.” In reading the context of his message you will find that Bush stated, “BY TRUSTING THE PEOPLE,” our founders wagered that a great and noble nation could be built on the liberty that resides in the hearts of all men and women.” Bush went on to say, “So long as WE TRUST THE PEOPLE,” our nation will prosper, our liberty will be secure and the state of our Union will remain strong.”
This is the exact opposite of what our founding fathers believed and contrary to the word of God.
Jeremiah 17: 5-8 states, “Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, for he shall be like the naked in the desert and shall not see when good cometh; but blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.”
We have become a pagan nation that puts its trust in man and not in God. Our Bible today has become nothing more than a coffee table decoration, and church services are only to make the congregation “feel” good, rather than “be” good. As a nation we have replaced our Bibles with facilitators, consultants, psychiatrists and self help sessions. But God has a different plan for our nation.
2 Chronicles 7:14 states, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
